Dorothy Rowe Dorothy Rowe

First woman to enter in winner's circle at an AMA national race.

Born in Hawthorne, California, in 1960, Dorothy Rowe began riding motorcycles at the age of 5 on family outings in the desert. She began her amateur career at the age of 12, and turned pro at the age of 16. As a Junior ranked rider, Rowe acquired an ex-Randy Goss Harley-Davidson XR750. Though Rowe never became a professional Expert, in 1979 she became the first woman to enter the winner's circle at an AMA national race, finishing second in the Junior class at San Jose, California.
